Red Cross volunteers and the Calvert Fire Department participate in a Sound the Alarm event in Calvert, Texas installing 140 alarms in 58 homes.
Recently volunteers and staff from the American Red Cross serving Central and South Texas Region participated in a Sound the Alarm event in Calvert, Texas. Together, with the Calvert Fire Department, the Red Cross installed 140 alarms in 58 homes and educated families about fire prevention.

Everyday, seven people die in home fires. In 2019, the Red Cross has a goal to install 100,000 free smoke alarms in more than 100 cities throughout the nation. We are so grateful for all the volunteers, the Calvert Fire Department and donors who made the Calvert Sound the Alarm event so successful.
One day of your life can change someone else's life forever. This Spring, join the Red Cross at Sound the Alarm events April 27 - May 12. Currently Sounds the Alarm events are scheduled for both Austin and San Antonio.
