Austin, TX, April 29, 2025 — The American Red Cross Central Texas Chapter invites the community to a special demolition event on Wednesday, April 30, from 2 to 3 p.m., as it marks a new beginning with the construction of a new facility at our Austin Red Cross office, located at 2218 Pershing Drive, Austin, TX 78723. This event will be held outdoors and is subject to weather conditions.
This event will honor the legacy of the current facility, which has served the community for more than 50 years, while also providing a look ahead at the exciting future of Red Cross services in Central Texas. Guests will have an opportunity to learn more about the new facility and how the Red Cross continues to support local communities. This transformation would not be possible without the generosity of our donors and the dedication of our board members, volunteers, and staff.
“This is an exciting new chapter for our Austin office, and we’re thrilled to continue meeting the needs of our community in a new, modern space,” said Marty McKellips, Regional Chief Executive Officer of the American Red Cross Central and South Texas Region. “We look forward to celebrating this milestone with the community and reflecting on the incredible 50 years of service provided from our historic building.”
The investment in a new facility reflects the growing demand for Red Cross services locally and across the country. From disaster response to blood collection, health and safety training, and support for military families, the Red Cross remains committed to delivering critical services with compassion and efficiency. The new facility will include a blood fixed-site collection center, a direct response to increasing national demand for blood. When emergencies happen, the blood already on the shelves is what helps save lives.
