The American Red Cross Community Adaptation Program has collaborated with Contigo Wellness to unveil a powerful new mural to bring in more mental wellness programming to Hays County.
Contigo Wellness is a leading advocate for mental health equity and destigmatization of mental illness in historically marginalized communities. This vibrant mural was created as part of the Tu Importas initiative, it aims to make the conversation around mental health, a visible and accepted part of the community, especially as we head into the holidays where mental health is often impacted.
Art murals serve as a powerful medium for mental health messaging, offering a unique way to destigmatize mental health issues within communities.
Event details:
The mural, designed by renowned local artist Ruben Equivel, features a dynamic and colorful representation of the mental health message “Tu Importas” or “You Matter” in English that resonates with the Cultural campaign for the community. It serves as a visual reminder of the importance of mental well-being and the collective support available to students and the community as they navigate the challenges of the new school year and life.
