Navin Narayan College Scholarship

Both a Rhodes Scholar and a Harvard graduate, Navin Narayan was a high-achieving student as well as a dedicated, compassionate, and innovative American Red Cross volunteer. Navin served many roles in the American Red Cross, including National Youth Council Chair. Tragically, at the age of 23, Navin succumbed to cancer. Since 2001, the National Youth Council has continued Navin Narayan’s legacy of volunteerism and academic excellence by awarding the Navin Narayan College Scholarship to two high school seniors who embody his principles. This scholarship is a one-time award of $1,000 paid directly to two recipients upon proof of matriculation.
Applications are due April 14, 2025 at 11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST). Any application not received by this deadline will not be considered. There are no exceptions. The applicant is responsible for applying through the Microsoft Forms application submission form here. Recommenders should submit their recommendation forms via the Microsoft Forms submission form linked on the information document by April 14, 2025 at 11:59 EST. The winner of the $1,000 Navin Narayan College Scholarship will be notified Spring 2025. The scholarship will be paid via check prior to the start of the 2025-2026 academic school year (after July 1, 2025). The recipients of the scholarship will be required to fill out a Form biannually that discusses the winner’s academic and Red Cross related achievements and participation in the past half-year.

Navin Narayan Award for Excellence in Youth Leadership
The Navin Narayan Award for Excellence in Youth Leadership is a national award presented annually to an American Red Cross volunteer between the ages of 14 and 24 who has volunteered with the Red Cross for at least two years and served in a leadership capacity.
Like the award’s namesake, Navin Narayan, the ideal recipient will have demonstrated a strong track record of leading and inspiring fellow Red Cross volunteers, creating a positive impact on their community, and exemplifying dedication to the Red Cross mission. Those previously nominated for this award may be re-nominated.
