Kathy Flynn's Red Cross Story
Kathy Flynn is helping make a difference around the world. The former co-chair of our Tiffany Circle National Council recently joined Red Cross teams in Zambia to support our Measles & Rubella Partnership, an initiative she is passionate about. During this trip, Kathy helped train volunteers and support them as they went door-to-door to provide families with vaccination information.
"The women we meet while doing this measles work are so strong – they’re the ones who carry the water, take care of the children, feed the family, and are sometimes the primary breadwinners. For the most part, they’re also the ones in the family responsible for making sure their kids get routine immunizations. They do it all.”
This is why her work is so important to her. “People and organizations around the world are capable of making big impacts, but sometimes they need a little lift to get started. The American Red Cross is building up local teams to fight preventable diseases such as measles — like we are doing here alongside the Zambia Red Cross. That’s how you make real change in the world.”
Thank you, Kathy!
