We invite you to join us September 29 from 9-9:45 A.M. at the Mimi & Marshall Heuser Emergency Operations Center at our Louisville Regional Headquarters for a pre-blood drive presentation ahead of our Women in Philanthropy Blood Equity Drive.

With September being recognized as Sickle Cell Awareness Month, hear from leaders of the Red Cross and our partners, the Sickle Cell Association of Kentuckiana and Simmons College, to learn about the Red Cross Sickle Cell Initiative, why health equity matters for people living with sickle cell disease and to discover how you can act now.

“This is a powerful opportunity for women to join together to meet an important community need,” said Jill Howard, chair of the Kentucky Region Tiffany Circle. “By giving our time, talent, treasure, and blood, we can help strengthen the blood supply for patients with sickle cell disease and build a healthier, more resilient community.”

Sickle cell disease is the most common genetic disease in the U.S., affecting about 100,000 people—primarily Black or African Americans.

"Meaningful impact for people living with sickle cell disease happens when the sickle cell community is included as a partner, a voice, and a leader in the work to improve health outcomes,” said Rebecca Seavers, president of the Sickle Cell Association of Kentuckiana.

Immediately following the presentation, consider making a blood donation at Simmons College where our Women in Philanthropy Blood Equity drive will be taking place from 10 A.M. to 3 P.M.
