Posie Carpenter is a retired health care executive having most recently served as the Chief Administrative Officer of Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center and Orthopedic Hospital; she is a registered nurse. After retiring, Posie earned a certificate in Fitness Instruction from UCLA Extension and a certification in Aquatic Fitness as well as her Water Safety Instructor and Life Guard Certificates from the Red Cross. With these qualifications, she enjoys coaching friends and family in healthy life styles and hopes to extend her practice to others. She is an avid athlete, enjoying swimming, watersports, sailing, yoga, tennis, biking, hiking, and skiing.
Posie began volunteering with the Red Cross in 2014 when she joined the Board of the Santa Monica Bay Chapter, where she has served, since 2016, as the Chair. Additionally, Posie serves as the Vice-Chair of the Tiffany Circle of the Los Angeles Region.
Posie has been deployed as an Elected Official Liaison and has completed the training to be a RN of Record at blood drives. She works actively to support local Health Services staff in recruiting RNs, the Disaster Services team in improving the volunteer experience and increasing volunteer recruitment, and Service to the Armed Forces with their initiatives to enhance access to services for our veterans.
She is a champion of the Map Your Neighborhood program and whether she serves as an educator, documenter or installer, Posie has participated in multiple home fire campaigns each year. When a major disaster occurs, she enjoys working telethons to help raise funds.
Posie is a trained ERV driver and case worker and donates blood every 56 to 65 days.
