SACRAMENTO, CA, October 12, 2020–The California Gold Country Region of the American Red Cross is seeking additional volunteers to support its ongoing relief efforts across California, which has suffered historic devastation from recent wildfires.
Since the beginning of the summer/fall fire season, more than 1,300 Red Cross volunteers have worked around the clock both in person and remotely to ensure that thousands of people displaced by wildfires have been given shelter, food, comfort and other assistance.
Often, support is provided to evacuees for months following a natural disaster. Additional volunteers are needed immediately to assist in several aspects of disaster response including health services, on-site shelter work, delivery of meals to evacuees, transporting supplies, and working virtually to deliver various forms of support.
