In January, it was announced that Jacquie Clites joined the California Gold Country Region as Regional Chief Executive Officer. Jacquie began her Red Cross career in 2011 as the Gift Planning Officer for the San Diego Region and then Senior Gift Planning Officer for the Los Angeles and Pacific Island Regions.

The region celebrated the exemplary work of its volunteers during Red Cross Month in March. Once again, the City of Redding lit up the Sundial Bridge in red to spotlight our volunteers who support the Red Cross mission each day.

Community Disaster Program Manager Francis Huezo was selected to participate in Academia Avanzada de Voceros en Español (AVANZA). The multi-day workshop was aimed at helping Spanish-speaking Red Crossers sharpen their media skills and practice language proficiency. Since AVANZA, Huezo has participated in several media interviews in our region which is helping the Red Cross build bridges to our local Latinx communities.

In April we celebrated volunteer Dreya who has been a Red Crosser for 30 years! THANK YOU for your service!
News Story: Operation Care Package a Huge Success
Once again, we joined with KCRA and My58 for Operation Care Package at the Roseville Automall. Volunteers collected enough supplies from the public to create 10,000 care packages to be sent to active-duty military, veterans and their families.
Our National Sound the Alarm events brought volunteers and partners together throughout the region to install free smoke alarms and make homes safer. We surpassed our goal with 314 homes made safter, 620 people served and 805 smoke alarms installed!

News Story: Yuba City Office Update
The region celebrated a major refresh of our Yuba City office with new paint, new floors, updated workspaces and much more. We also opened a new workspace location in Sonora!

Our new Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) has arrived! The ERV can serve as a mobile office space and charging station and enables our volunteers to provide meals during disasters and transport supplies.

During Fiscal Year 2024, our volunteers responded to 681 single- and multi-family fires and opened 11 emergency disaster shelters across the region. We also deployed 130 volunteers to disaster response operations around the country.
