Home fires claim seven lives every day in the U.S. — but having working smoke alarms can cut the risk of death by half. That’s why the American Red Cross is rallying local volunteers to install FREE smoke alarms in New Haven as part of our Sound the Alarm events in May.

Local volunteers and community partners will also meet safely with families to help them create a two-minute fire escape plan, as well as share safety information on home fires and other local disaster risks. They will also opportunities for families to get involved with our youth preparedness and other lifesaving programs.
