August 8, 2024, marked one year since the devastating fires that ravaged Maui. While there is still a long road left to travel in recovery, there have been strong strides forward thanks to partnerships throughout the community.

September marked Preparedness Month, and on the 5th of the month, the Red Cross partnered with fellow nonprofit organization ClimbHI to train lifesaving skills to the students of Liholiho Elementary on Oahu.

The Red Cross of Hawaii had the privilege of standing with our partners from the Maui Food Bank to celebrate Da Market, a food distribution center in west Maui stocked with goods that meet the cultural and dietary needs of the community being served.

In March, we honored Petty Officer Sweeten with a Lifesaving Award for his heroic act of delivering CPR to a person in need. Michael Jordan, American Red Cross VP, Service to the Armed Forces, crew, and PO Sweeten's family were present to celebrate.
