American Red Cross volunteers responded to 34 home fires in the past week in Chicago, Skokie, Bellwood, Berwyn, Zion, Aurora, Blue Island, Chicago Heights, Elgin, Round Lake Beach, Hoffman Estates, Batavia, Joliet, Bolingbrook, and St. Anne and provided assistance to 160 people including 61 children, by supplying them with items to meet immediate needs after a fire, and additional support in the form of health and mental health services and one-on-one support.
