Hurricane Ian is striking Florida today as an extremely dangerous Category 4 storm bringing catastrophic storm surge, winds and flooding. Today, more than 500 trained Red Cross disaster workers are on the ground in Florida to support sheltering and relief efforts as Ian makes landfall.
Yasmin Clinton of Des Plaines, a Red Cross volunteer from the Greater Chicago Chapter of the Illinois region, will be deploying to Florida this week to join other Red Cross volunteers to help those in need. Yasmin has been a Red Cross volunteer since 2017 and has responded to Hurricane Ida and other major incidents locally and across the country.

Marty Knight of Kankakee, a Red Cross volunteer from the Illinois River Valley chapter of the Illinois region, will be deploying to Florida this week to join the efforts of Red Cross volunteers, there. Marty has been a Red Cross volunteer for over 10 years and has also helped with past disasters including Hurricane Sandy, the Flint water crisis, flooding in Mississippi, and Hurricane Florence.
