(ROCKFORD, IL) August 3, 2017 — The Red Cross in collaboration with Stephenson County will open a Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC) in Freeport, Illinois on Friday, August 4 to provide much-needed supplies and resources to affected residents.
The MARC is a one-stop recovery resource for affected residents located at Highland Community College on 2998 West Pearl City Road (Building H, Room 101 Cafeteria) in Freeport, IL and will be open on Friday, August 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Experiencing a home flood can be an extremely stressful situation. We encourage people to come to the MARC for help establishing an individualized, long-term recovery plan with a trained case worker and to get free clean-up supplies specific to flood needs (bleach, mops, etc.). Resources will be available from 15+ government agencies and community/faith-based organizations, including but not limited to the American Red Cross, Catholic Charities Archdiocese of Rockford, The Church of Christ, Illinois Attorney General, Illinois Department on Aging, Illinois Department of Insurance, Illinois Department of Human Services, Northwestern Illinois Community Action Agency (NICAA), the Salvation Army, Senior Resource Center, Stephenson County Emergency Management Agency, Stephenson County Health Department, Stephenson County Health Department and the YWCA, etc.
The Red Cross urges people to stay safe. Residents needing assistance can call the Red Cross flood hotline at 847-220-7495.
Buses to/from the MARC will be organized by the Senior Resource Center and will run on the following schedule. Last pick-up to go to the MARC is: Freeport @ 5:45pm and Pearl City @ 6:30pm.
