(CHICAGO, IL) July 19, 2017 — Volunteers with the American Red Cross will be on-site tomorrow at a Multi-agency Resource Center (MARC) facilitated by Lake County in Round Lake Beach featuring many agency and community partner resources at 965 East Rollins Road to assist people affected by major flooding in northern Illinois. People are invited to this resource center to begin the recovery process by coming to the MARC to receive counseling and support services, obtain cleaning supplies, learn more about housing resources and get a warm meal.
“This collaboration of numerous community partner organizations from across northern Illinois will provide a multitude of resources at a single location for those affected by the flooding,” said Celena Roldan, CEO of the American Red Cross of Chicago & Northern Illinois. “We realize that recovery from this devastating flooding disaster is just beginning. People have a long clean-up process ahead and the Red Cross and our community partners are here to help.”
Red Cross volunteers will provide assistance in collaboration with Lake County Emergency Management, the Salvation Army and the Northeast Illinois Community Organizations Active in Disasters (COAD), which includes numerous organizations willing to provide assistance to residents impacted by flooding. The MARC will open Thursday at 11 and be open Friday and Saturday.

Drop-Off Donation Site
To help ensure victims/clients receive the items they need, the Salvation Army has created a toll-free Donation Hotline (888-369-1349) for donors to call and get information on the specific items needed. Callers will be asked to identify what items they have to donate and if they are not useable items specifically for this flood, the Salvation Army will decline receiving the donation. If they are non-perishable items that can be used in this disaster (or future ones), they will be given an Authorization Code and times the MARC is open to accept their donation. With the Authorization Code, they may drive to the MARC at their convenience any of the three days and drop off their items with designated Donation Management personnel. Callers can leave a message and get a call back should they call after hours or during times of heavy call volume.
If you have flood damage, what should you do?
Lake County and its partners are continuing with the damage assessment process. The detail within this report will help determine eligibility for federal assistance.
