Teach Your Family Home Fire Safety
Volunteers with our Disaster Action Team responded to 40 home fires in Chicago, Cicero, Evanston. Fox Lake, Harvey, Lake Villa, Waukegan and more, with 23 of these incidents occurring in Chicago. Sadly, one of these home fires resulted in the loss of life.
In the last week, volunteers with the American Red Cross provided a temporary place to stay to 84 individuals, including 69 adults and 15 children. In addition, our volunteers provided health services, disaster mental health, financial services and information about recovery planning to those impacted.
During the winter and as temperatures drop, there is an increase in home fires. Help keep your family safe by following these tips:
