The American Red Cross of the Illinois River Valley will be hosting Sound the Alarm events in Bolingbrook and Joliet as part of a nationwide effort to help reduce the number of deaths and injuries caused by home fires. On Tuesday, May 7 Joliet Mayor Robert O’Dekirk proclaimed at City Hall the city’s sincere appreciation for the work of the Red Cross and encouraged residents to partake in the “Sound the Alarm” events.
Sound the Alarm events are part of the Home Fire Campaign, which the Red Cross launched in 2014 to reduce fire deaths and injuries. So far, it has reached more than 1.7 million people and saved 582 lives nationwide.

Bolingbrook Event
WHAT: The Red Cross of the Illinois River Valley is hosting a Sound the Alarm home fire safety and smoke alarm installation event. Red Cross volunteers, the Bolingbrook Fire Department, Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, Naperville Rotary Club and other community partners will go door to door to install free smoke alarms and help families create fire escape plans.
