American Red Cross volunteers responded to 8 home fires in the past week in Effingham, Salem, Frankfort, Johnston City, Roodhouse, Herrin, Mount Vernon, and Springfield and provided assistance to 22 people by supplying them with items to meet immediate needs after a fire, and additional support in the form of health and mental health services and one-on-one support.

Sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone at any time, often without warning. In fact, 70% of cardiac arrests happen outside of hospitals in the U.S. each year. While it primarily occurs in adults, more than 300,000 people die as a result of cardiac arrest every year in the United States. Having lifesaving skills and training can go a long way to keeping your loved ones safe in the event of cardiac arrest, as every minute that defibrillation is delayed, the person’s chance of survival is reduced by 10%. How to Sign Up for Classes
