The American Red Cross of Greater Chicago is proud to announce the addition of two new members to its board of directors: Sara Spiering and Jon-Micheal Wheat.
“The board of directors for the Greater Chicago chapter has a long-standing reputation of leaders known for their broad knowledge depth and diverse experience within the civic and professional fabric of the corporate community,” said Celena Roldán, chief executive officer of the American Red Cross of Illinois. “We are grateful for the passion and dedication brought by these outstanding members and look forward to their continued support in the ongoing stewardship of the mission of the Red Cross.”
Sara Spiering is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ Chicago office and a member of the global CEO and Board of Directors and Industrial practices. Primarily working with large-cap public companies, she focuses on non-executive director, executive and non-executive chair and CEO engagements, as well as board succession planning, pre-IPO board building, and corporate governance best practices. Sara is a frequent speaker on governance issues and serves as Heidrick’s Global Sector Lead, Diversified Services.
Before joining Heidrick & Struggles, Sara worked as an attorney practicing management-focused employment law and commercial litigation with DeWitt Ross & Stevens.
Sara is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Law, JD and Northwestern University, Medill School of Journalism.
Jon-Micheal Wheat is a corporate partner in the Chicago office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. His practice primarily focuses on leveraged buyouts of public and private companies, strategic mergers and acquisitions, and growth equity and venture capital investments in a wide array of industries, including education, federal government contracting, healthcare, manufacturing and technology. As a trusted adviser to his clients, Jon-Micheal regularly assembles and leads diverse, inter-disciplinary teams of attorneys focused on tackling his clients’ most difficult legal challenges.
Jon-Micheal is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and the University of Michigan Law School.
