Volunteers with the American Red Cross of Northwest Illinois are ready to assist residents impacted by this morning industrial fire at the Chemtool plant in Rockton.

As a result of the fire, the Rockton fire department issued a mandatory evacuation order for homes within approximately a one-mile radius.

The Red Cross has converted an evacuation reception center at Roscoe Middle School to an overnight shelter for residents in need of a safe place to stay. Our  volunteers will be providing meals, snacks, water and disaster support services such as health services to those affected.

Early this morning, Red Cross volunteers also provided support with meals, snacks and water to approximately 200 first responders battling this fire.
