Avon first responders are teaming up with the American Red Cross to host a Battle of the Badges blood drive on Wednesday, April 16, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Harmony of Avon Baptist Church located at 5693 Broyles Drive, Avon, IN 46123. The community is invited to donate blood and vote for their favorite first responders as the Avon Fire Department competes against the Avon Police Department.
Battle of the Badges blood drives help meet patients’ needs through a fun competition. Anyone who donates blood at this drive will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite department, and the department with the most votes will be declared the winner. During the blood drive, people can also enjoy a community event to learn police and fire safety education and more.
First responders witness firsthand how crucial blood donations can be to help save a patient’s life. One in 7 people entering the hospital will need a blood transfusion. Blood cannot be manufactured, and we depend on the generosity of donors to help ensure patients receive the care they need and deserve.
