A blood drive is being held in honor of Chance Young at the Taking Chances Memorial Blood Drive on Saturday, February 21 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the National Guard Drill Room Floor located at 130 W Cook Road in Fort Wayne.
Chance Young was diagnosed with leukemia in April 2022 and relied on countless blood and platelet transfusions throughout his treatment. His journey inspired the creation of the Taking Chances Foundation, which honors his legacy by supporting families affected by leukemia and advocating for lifesaving resources. Leukemia patients and other blood cancer patients depend heavily on donated blood products. This blood drive is held in Chance’s honor to continue saving lives and giving hope to others.

The American Red Cross is facing a severe blood shortage as requests from hospitals exceed the available supply of blood. Donors of all blood types, especially those with types O, A negative and B negative blood and those giving platelets, are urged to give now to help people who rely on transfusions for medical care.
Share your whole heart with patients in need this winter. Those who come to give Jan. 26-Feb. 28, 2026, will receive a $20 e-gift card to a merchant of choice. Visit RedCrossBlood.org/Heart for details.
