The American Red Cross continues to support those affected by severe weather nearly two weeks after storms first impacted the Indiana Region. More than 100 Red Cross disaster responders are on the ground, providing a safe place to stay, warm meals, emergency supplies, disaster health and mental health services to affected individuals and families.
Our thoughts are with everyone who has been affected by the storms, and the Red Cross is working around the clock with our partners to provide support. Since the onset of severe weather, the Indiana Red Cross has provided more than 300 overnight stays at Red Cross shelters, served more than 700 meals and nearly 2,000 snacks, and distributed 3,800 items to help residents clean damage in affected areas.
On Friday, June 26, the Red Cross will be handing out emergency supplies, like gloves, tarps and more, at a location on Cleveland Street to help residents in Merrillville as they continue to clear damage and debris. Red Crossers will also be driving throughout the community in an emergency response vehicle to hand out water and snacks as people work. Volunteers with local organizations like the United Way of Northwest Indiana will also support clean-up efforts.
WHEN: Friday, June 26 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
WHERE: 6121 Cleveland Street in Merrillville
