Volunteers needed to Install Free Smoke Alarms during Red Cross Sound the Alarm Event in Lima, Ohio

The Northeast Chapter of the American Red Cross of the Indiana Region is seeking volunteers to help install free smoke alarms for local families during a Sound the Alarm home fire safety event in Lima, Ohio on Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
“A working smoke alarm can be a difference between survival and tragedy when a home fire strikes,” said Jennifer Sexton, executive director for the Northeast Chapter of the American Red Cross of the Indiana Region. “Join us for a rewarding experience and help ensure the community stay safe by ensuring they have these lifesaving devices.”
HELP US SOUND THE ALARM Those interested in volunteering for this event can register here: https://rdcrss.org/442qbvO. No prior experience is needed. Volunteers will meet on Saturday, May 18 at the American Red Cross Office, located at 610 S. Collett Street in Lima, Ohio 45805. Training will be provided before volunteer teams- with members of the Red Cross and partners – visit homes to install smoke alarms and share fire safety information with residents.
IF YOU NEED A SMOKE ALARM Residents who need assistance can visit redcross.org/INHomeFire to schedule an appointment for a free smoke alarm installation year-round. During home visits, Red Cross volunteers share information on the causes of home fires, how to prevent them, what to do if a fire starts and how to create an escape plan. The Red Cross Home Fire Campaign has helped save more than 2,000 lives since launching in October 2014.
