Join the American Red Cross Indiana Region for the annual Statehouse Day Blood Drive and help save lives by donating blood. Donors can give alongside members of the Indiana State Legislature as the House of Representatives and Senate face off in a friendly competition to see who can donate the most blood.
The national blood supply remains at critically low levels. The recent winter storm and extreme cold weather have led to the cancellation of hundreds of blood drives across the country, including in the indiana Region. Nearly 30 blood drives have been cancelled in our region alone, resulting in nearly 800 units of blood donations going uncollected since January 25.
“As the Red Cross continues to experience a severe blood shortage, we’re calling on eligible donors to roll up a sleeve and help rebuild the blood supply,” said Terry Stigdon, chief executive officer of the American Red Cross Indiana Region. “We appreciate the ongoing support of Indiana’s legislators and our generous donors who help ensure patients don’t face delays in lifesaving care.”
