Boston College basketball point guard Chas Kelley III helped spread some holiday cheer at our Tremont Street blood donation center earlier this week. Chas reached out to the Red Cross looking for a way to get involved with his new local community.
Chas is a freshman at BC this year, playing for Eagles basketball. A native of Houston, Texas, Chas lived in Houston when Hurricane Harvey devastated many local communities there, and he’s seen firsthand the important work of the Red Cross as people recover from disaster.
"I am really excited to donate blood through the American Red Cross. 29,000 units of red blood cells are needed every day in the U. S. and I and more than happy to give back," said Chas.
As blood donation appointments dip during the holiday season, Chas and the entire Red Cross want to remind people that making time for an appointment is crucial.
