The award is the highest award the Red Cross offers for individual humanitarian acts that exemplify the Mission of the American Red Cross.
Red Cross volunteer Rebecca Santellan recently received the American Red Cross Certificate of Merit, signed by the president of the United States, for saving the life of a woman involved in an auto accident. The award is the highest award the Red Cross offers for individual humanitarian acts that exemplify the Mission of the American Red Cross.
Rebecca, who has been volunteering for more than 15 years, utilized life-saving skills she learned through our Public Health and Safety Services CPR and first aid classes. After witnessing an auto accident, she proficiently assessed the situation, assisted a victim with severe injuries, stabilizing the patient while calling 9-1-1 and awaiting emergency services to arrive on scene.
Kudos to Rebecca from the entire Michigan Region for her selfless and courageous act!
