DETROIT (June 2, 2026) — The American Red Cross and Neighborhood Michigan Ford Dealers are partnering to host a series of blood drives at dealership sites across Michigan June 4 – July 31 and keep the blood supplystable for patients in need of vital care.
The blood drives are part of the Neighborhood Michigan Ford Dealers Roll Up & Give campaign to engage their communities in meaningful, lifesaving ways. It’s also an extension of Ford Motor Company’s Building Together philanthropic initiative to support the critical work of four national nonprofit organizations, including the Red Cross.
After a successful pilot in 2025, the Neighborhood Michigan Ford Dealers is expanding their campaign to host blood drives at more than 30 dealership locations in the Flint/Saginaw area, Mid-Michigan area, Northern Michigan, Southwest Michigan and West Michigan. Last year, 363 units of blood were donated and 232 donors gave blood for the first time at blood drives held at 13 participating dealerships.
“We are excited to build on the momentum created by the Neighborhood Michigan Ford Dealers Roll Up & Give campaign,” said Kelly King, chief executive officer of the Red Cross Michigan Region. “The need for blood is constant and these blood drives will help ensure patients have access to lifesaving blood when they need it.”
Having blood products immediately available is a key part of summer safety. And making and keeping donation appointments now is critical to ensuring blood products are available for all patients – including those in trauma situations that may require several lifesaving transfusions – in the weeks to come.
“The growth in dealer participation speaks volumes about the power of collaboration and shared purpose,” said a Neighborhood Michigan Ford Dealers spokesperson. “The commitment from our dealers shows how local dealers can come together to make a measurable difference in their communities.”
Donors of all blood types are needed. Maintaining a reliable blood supply is essential for all patients, especially those with chronic and acute conditions such as sickle cell disease and cancer. Type O negative is the universal blood type and can be transfused to anyone who needs blood.
A blood donation appointment takes about one hour. The donation itself is only 8-10 minutes.
To schedule an appointment, download the ‘Blood Donor’ American Red Cross app, visit RedCrossBlood.org, or call 1-800-RED CROSS. Walk-ins will be taken as the schedule allows. Make an appointment to secure your spot.
