DETROIT (July 28, 2025) – The American Red Cross, in partnership with The District Detroit, is encouraging donors to give blood at their eighth annual blood drive to maintain a steady national blood supply. All presenting donors will receive two tickets to a Detroit Tigers game and two tickets to a pre-season Detroit Red Wings game.
Blood and platelet donors are needed, especially those with type O blood.
The blood drive will be from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, on the Via Concourse at Little Caesars Arena, 2645 Woodward, in Detroit. Free parking is available at the Trinity Health Garage, 165 Sproat Street.
Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood. This includes new moms, babies born prematurely, accident victims, people living with sickle cell disease and people being treated for cancer. That’s why the need for blood is constant.
In addition to the Tigers and Red Wings tickets, donors will have a chance to Spin the Wheel to win an additional giveaway. Also, donors who give Aug. 1- 28 will receive a $15 e-gift card to a merchant of choice. Plus, the Red Cross will perform free A1C testing, which is commonly used to screen for prediabetes and diabetes, on successful donations (one test result per 12-month period). Visit RedCrossBlood.org/Test for more information.
Here are three easy ways to make an appointment to give blood:
Appointments will be prioritized; walk-ins will be taken as time permits.
