During Fire Prevention Week, Red Cross offers 10 tips for safe cooking.
DETROIT (Oct. 10, 2023) – During Fire Prevention Week, the American Red Cross Michigan Region says cooking is the leading cause of home fires and shares 10 tips for keeping you and your family safe.
o Potholders
o Oven mitts
o Wooden utensils
o Paper or plastic bags
o Food packaging
o Towels or curtains
o On each level of your home.
o Near sleeping areas and inside and outside bedrooms if you sleep with doors closed. Be sure to use the test button to check the smoke alarms each month. Replace all batteries at least once a year if your smoke alarm requires it.
