DETROIT (Aug. 9, 2023) – For the third time this year, the American Red Cross is teaming up with longtime partner Gardner White to host blood drives in the metro Detroit area and Saginaw.
The Red Cross needs help to prevent a looming blood shortage. It’s critical to have a strong supply of all blood types on hospital shelves to help patients.
“You can make a big impact with one simple act – by giving blood,” Jamila Wilson, a Red Cross donor recruitment account manager. “It takes just an hour of your time, and your generosity could be lifesaving.”
Right now, the Red Cross especially needs O negative, O positive and B negative blood donors. Whole blood donors are eligible to give every 56 days. Those who donated earlier this year are encouraged to make another appointment to give.
The blood drives will be held from 11 a.m. – 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15, and Thursday, Aug. 17. As a thank you for giving blood, all presenting donors will:
