KALAMAZOO (Dec. 21, 2022) – The American Red Cross has postponed its annual Holiday Blood Drive on Friday, Dec. 23, at the Radisson Plaza Hotel in Kalamazoo, due to a winter storm that is forecast to dump heavy snow in the area Thursday through Saturday. The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids said the storm has the potential to produce blizzard conditions.
The Red Cross rescheduled the blood drive for Friday, Dec. 30, at its Southwest Michigan chapter, located at 5640 Venture Court. The Red Cross is contacting blood donors who already made appointments to reschedule them for Dec. 30 or for another blood drive.
“The safety of our Red Cross team and our generous blood donors is our most important priority,” said Jacqueline Tullio, regional donor services executive for American Red Cross Blood Services in Michigan. “We look forward to welcoming our donors at the blood drive on Dec. 30.”
The blood drive on Dec. 30 will be held from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. To schedule an appointment, download the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
