NORTHERN MICHIGAN (April 15, 2026) – The American Red Cross has mobilized a team of 22 trained disaster workers to support its disaster relief operation in Northern Michigan amid rising floodwaters.
The Red Cross has opened an emergency shelter at the Knights of Columbus, 9840 N. Straits Highway, in Cheboygan. Forty-three people who evacuated due to local flooding stayed in the shelter overnight.
Anyone affected by flooding is welcome to stop by for a hot meal, get a good night’s rest, or charge their phone.
All Red Cross disaster assistance is free, thanks to the generosity of our donors and volunteers.
Anyone who was impacted by flooding can call 1-800-RED CROSS.
The Red Cross is also working closely with emergency management and community partners who are monitoring multiple dams and rivers in varying levels of flood stage and concern levels in Northern Michigan.
