DETROIT (Jan. 2, 2025) – For the 25th year the American Red Cross and Gardner White furniture store are teaming up to hold a blood drive and help save lives.
To kick off National Blood Donor Month in January, the Red Cross will hold a two-day blood drive from 11 a.m. – 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, and Thursday, Jan. 9, at Gardner White stores throughout southeast Michigan and Saginaw.
Donors of all types – especially those with type O blood and those giving platelets – are urged to give.
Donors who come in to give will each receive a $50 coupon toward a Gardner White purchase of $399 or more and be entered to win a $500 Gardner White gift
certificate.
In addition, donors who give now through Jan. 26 will be automatically entered to win a trip for two to Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans.
The winner of the Super Bowl LIX tickets and their guest will enjoy access to day-of in-stadium pre-game activities, tickets to the official Super Bowl Experience, round-trip airfare to New Orleans, three-night hotel accommodations (Feb. 7 -10), plus a $1,000 gift card for expenses.
Donors can also give at other Red Cross blood drives or Red Cross blood donation centers in Michigan for a chance to win the Super Bowl tickets.
The month of January is often a challenging time for the Red Cross to collect blood products to meet the needs of patients, especially after a busy holiday season. Winter weather and seasonal illnesses like the flu may also prevent people from making or keeping appointments. When fewer people donate, blood products can start to disappear from hospital shelves.
Hereare three ways to make an appointment to donate. For the Jan. 7 and Jan. 9 Gardner White blood drives, use code gardnerwhite.
Red Cross blood drives are being held at these Gardner White locations:
Tuesday, Jan. 7, 11 a.m. – 4:45 p.m.
Thursday, Jan. 9, 11 a.m. – 4:45 p.m.
