KALAMAZOO (March 10, 2026) – More than 50 trained American Red Cross disaster workers – 90 percent of whom are volunteers – are supporting its disaster relief
operation in Southwest Michigan. Here are key updates:
- Red Cross volunteers continue to perform residential damage assessments in affected communities to better understand what assistance residents may need in the days and weeks ahead. Preliminary assessments have been done at more than 190 dwellings, of which 42 were destroyed or suffered major damage.
- Red Cross volunteers continue to distribute emergency supplies to impacted communities. So far, more than 50 tarps, trash bags, shovels, heavy-duty gloves and rakes have been distributed. Additionally, Red Cross teams have distributed 82 snacks and 60 bottles of water.
- Help people affected by disasters like tornadoes, floods and countless other crises by making a gift to American Red Cross Disaster Relief. Your gift enables the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to and help people recover from disasters big and small. Call 1-800-RED CROSS or visit redcross.org/Michigan.
- Masco Corporation is matching all financial gifts today, March 10, up to $100,000. Visit redcross.org/donate to make a donation.
- All Red Cross disaster assistance is free, thanks to the generosity of donors and volunteers.
- The Red Cross continues to work closely with local community partners across the impacted areas to evaluate the needs of residents.
Residents who were impacted by the storms and need help can contact 1-800-RED CROSS (733-2767).
