Make an appointment to donate Jan. 9 and
Jan. 11 at Gardner White furniture stores.
DETROIT (Jan. 3, 2024) – A new year brings a new opportunity to make a difference and help save lives. Give blood regularly with the American Red Cross.
The Red Cross kicks off National Blood Donor Month to host a two-day blood drive with longtime partner Gardner White. This marks the 24th year of the partnership.
Blood drives will be held from 11 a.m. – 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, and Thursday, Jan. 11, at Gardner White furniture stores throughout southeast Michigan and Saginaw. Donors of all types – especially those with type O blood and those giving platelets – are urged to give.
Donors will each receive a $50 coupon toward a Gardner White purchase of $399 or more and be entered to win a $500 Gardner-White gift certificate. Also, donors who give blood in January will be automatically entered to win a trip for two to Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas. For details, visit RedCrossBlood.org/SuperBowl.
“We’re inviting the community to give patients in need a more hopeful 2024 by scheduling a blood donation,” said Jamila Wilson, a donor recruitment account manager with the Red Cross in Michigan. “Your donation can have a lasting impact.”
The month of January is often a hard time for the Red Cross to collect the blood needed for hospitals and patients. Holiday get-togethers, school breaks, seasonal illness and winter weather can have negative impacts on drives and donor availability and can lead to a drawdown in the nation’s blood supply.
Donations help ensure new moms, premature babies, cancer patients and accident victims have access to safe, lifesaving blood.
Here are three ways to make an appointment to donate:
