DETROIT (Aug. 1, 2025) – For the third time this year, the American Red Cross and Gardner White are teaming up to hold a two-day blood drive and help those who depend on lifesaving blood. The Red Cross will perform free A1C testing, which is commonly used to screen for prediabetes and diabetes, on successful blood donations in August.
The two-day blood drive will be held from 11 a.m. – 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, and Thursday, Aug. 14, at Gardner White stores throughout southeast Michigan and Saginaw. The Red Cross and Gardner White partnered on blood drives in January and April.
Presenting donors will receive a coupon for $50 toward a Gardner White purchase of $399 or more, plus be entered to win a $500 Gardner White gift certificate. Also, donors who come to give Aug. 1-28 will get a $15 e-gift card to a merchant of choice.
All blood types are needed, especially O positive and B negative, as donation appointments have started to decrease in late summer.
The A1C testing will be available to donors who have not received one in a 12-month period. The Red Cross first offered the testing in March. While no fasting is required for the test, blood donors should eat a nutritious meal ahead of their appointment. Visit rcblood.org/Test for more details.
Make your donation appointment by visiting RedCrossBlood.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS or using the Red Cross Blood Donor App. Use code gardnerwhite.
