Our amazing volunteers are currently active in states all across the nation assisting others as they help deliver the Red Cross Mission to those in need. To all of you, we send our deepest appreciation for the energy and care you always bring to bear whenever duty calls. THANK YOU ALL!
As you may well know, large parts of the county are facing multiple disasters ranging from the wildfires on the west coast to the hurricanes in the gulf coast. And as part of our mission, the Red Cross is boots-on-the-ground supporting those continuing relief efforts to help alleviate the adversity facing our neighbors.
Because of this, there is a national call to all Red Cross regions to mobilize and deploy volunteers to these affected areas. Historically, the state of Michigan has been a leader in sending volunteers where they are needed most, and we intend on continuing that tradition today.
In that effort, we are asking if any volunteers regardless of line of service, are willing and able to deploy in support of hurricane/wildfire shelter operations. Shelter volunteers will provide assistance for disaster clients, supporting the day-to-day activities within a shelter which may include working in reception, registration, feeding, dormitory, information, or other areas.
In order to keep our clients, volunteers and staff safe in a COVID environment, we are strictly following the guidance from the CDC and local public health authorities. We are mitigating risks by putting in place multiple protocols including limiting the number of individuals inside a given shelter, social distancing, face coverings and regular health screenings.

Thank you again for your dedicated support of the Red Cross and we look forward to hearing from you soon!
