Six shelters are now open across the state of Missouri in response to flooding and tornado damage. Efforts are ongoing in coordination with local officials to evaluate and determine new shelter locations as needed with evolving flood conditions in the state.

Overnight, 63 individuals stayed in the Red Cross shelters in Jefferson City and Eldon. The two shelters remain open in response to the severe storms and tornadoes that hit Jefferson City May 22:
Items to bring include clothing for a few days, bedding, toiletries, essential medication, and items for your children. Red Cross provides mobile feeding and supplies continue following May 28 tornado in Kansas City Metro:
Today, June 1, Red Cross staff and volunteers sent an emergency response vehicle to Linwood, Kansas and a second one to the Mound City area (Mound City, Craig and Rosendale). Residents there were provided with water, snacks, food and clean up supplies such as trash bags, tarps, boxes, rakes, shovels and other items to assist in cleaning up after the damaging storms.
Damage assessments underway across the state:
The Red Cross is continuing to conduct damage assessments in areas across the state including Southern Missouri, following the Golden City tornado damage, May 22; Central Missouri following the Jefferson City/Eldon damage; Greater KC metro following the May 28th tornado damage; and northwest Missouri following flooding near Mound City and Bethany, MO.
