The American Red Cross of Southern Missouri has been providing support to communities affected by tornadoes in Southern Missouri since the severe storms tore through the area overnight May 22. The majority of those affected reside in Jasper and Barton counties, with some damage in Dade and Laclede counties.
The Red Cross has been providing mobile feeding in Jasper and Barton counties, serving a total of 550 meals in Jasper County and 100 meals in Barton County to date following the tornadoes.
Red Cross teams have also been working to do damage assessments in each of these counties. As of yesterday, more than 200 damage assessments have been completed in Jasper County and 10 in Barton. Additional assessments are underway to determine needs and assistance from the Red Cross.
