WATFORD CITY, N.D. (July 11, 2018) – The American Red Cross is opening a resource center for individuals and families affected by the EF-2 tornado that devastated an RV park in Watford City on Tuesday morning.
The Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC) will be open from 9:00 a.m.- 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 12. People who need help can go to the Watford City Civic Center to learn about recovery resources from the American Red Cross, and other non-profit, community and government partners.
“Residents of Watford City have been through a lot in the last 24 hours and we want to make the recovery process as easy as possible,” said Executive Director Rob Stotz. “The MARC is a one-stop shop for resources and information so people can be in control of their own recovery process.”
Red Cross volunteers and staff remain in Watford City, working with government and community partners to support an emergency shelter. Anyone displaced by this storm can go to the Watford City Civic Center for a safe place to stay – 60 individuals stayed in the shelter Tuesday night.
Red Cross disaster relief workers are providing water, food and snacks, as well as comfort items such as blankets, cots and comfort kits at the shelter. We are also distributing water and snacks to people who are cleaning up at the RV park.
The Red Cross is working closely with emergency officials in McKenzie County to assess the needs of the community and will continue to provide support as needed.
