"She is already hard at work engaging local volunteers and donors in our mission"
The American Red Cross is pleased to announce the appointment of Kelly Formoso as Executive Director of the Mid-Hudson Valley chapter, serving Dutchess, Ulster, Greene and Columbia counties. Formoso most recently served as the chapter’s Disaster Program Manager. She brings a decade of experience with Red Cross programs and services to her new role, having held multiple positions with the organization across several states since 2007.
“Kelly is a perfect fit to lead the Red Cross in the Mid-Hudson Valley and we are thrilled to have her,” said Nancy Aronzon, board member for the American Red Cross of the Mid-Hudson Valley. “She is already hard at work engaging local volunteers and donors in our mission, and her energy and passion are contagious. We look forward to building on the great work the Red Cross does in our community under her leadership.”
A native of Monroe, NY, Formoso first joined the American Red Cross as an AmeriCorps National Preparedness and Response Corps member in Central Maryland. From there, she went on to hold several positions with the Central Illinois Chapter of the American Red Cross before returning to the Mid-Hudson Valley to manage disaster cycle services in January 2016. Formoso replaces former executive director Laurynn Myers, who is now working in disaster operations and logistics for the Red Cross at a national level.
“I am truly honored to be able to continue to serve the Red Cross as an Executive Director in the community I call home,” Formoso said. “I look forward to sharing my passion for the mission of the American Red Cross with volunteers, donors and partners alike, to continue delivering vital Red Cross services and making a meaningful impact in the Mid-Hudson Valley.”
The American Red Cross of the Mid-Hudson Valley serves a population of nearly 600,000 people with the support of more than 400 local volunteers across Dutchess, Ulster, Greene and Columbia counties. It is one of four Red Cross chapters in the Eastern New York Region, providing relief for disaster victims, training in preparedness and health and safety skills, support for members of the military, and more.
