Meet Ishraq, a native of Yemen who now resides in Oneida County. Ishraq volunteers as a Duty Officer, helping to ensure timely activation and monitoring of local and regional Disaster Action Team (DAT) responses to home fires and other local disasters.

Not a day goes by when we don’t provide help to New Yorkers whether it be providing aid after a home fires, collecting blood or assisting military members, veterans and their families. Advocacy Day allows us to share our story with our state legislators.

The American Red Cross in Eastern New York hosted a panel discussion with Albany-area business leaders.The discussion addressed the needs of our region and ways to harness the collective power of key stakeholders to build more resilient communities.
For the last 21 years, Red Cross volunteers support our Park It Fundraiser by parking cars at the New York State Fair. This year more than 2,400 hours were worked by 160 volunteers to raise critical funds for our mission.

Red Cross Volunteers know working smoke alarms save lives thats why they are sounding the alarm. Home fires claim seven lives every day, but working smoke alarms can cut the risk of death by half. More than 100 lives have been saved by our work.
