Though it has been 140 years since Clara Barton founded the American Red Cross, the need to alleviate human suffering hasn't changed. Today, through the Red Cross people continue to come together in innovative ways to serve and give hope during life's emergencies. Special guest emcees Chief Meteorologist Wes Hohenstein and Meteorologist Laura Smith of CBS17 invite you to join us for a very special event where we celebrate the lifesaving mission of the American Red Cross. This exciting, in-person event will take place on Thursday, April 27, at Union Station in downtown Raleigh. The event will include dinner, entertainment, silent auction and a live auction featuring exciting trips and one-of-a-kind items.
During the gala, the Red Cross will recognize Eastern North Carolina Region’s CEO Barry Porter, for his lifetime of service to the Red Cross. After 43 years of exceptional work and dedication, Barry will retire with distinction at the end of April.
Your support ensures the mission of the Red Cross is there to meet basic human needs of food, shelter and hope...and at times life itself.

The Red Cross Gala will be an in-person event on Thursday, April 27, 2023 from 6:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
