The American Red Cross and partners have organized a food and hygiene drive to benefit local military communities impacted by the ongoing government shutdown.
“The Red Cross helps members of the military, veterans, their families and caregivers cope with the challenges of service,” said Marama Bayles-Raleigh, Red Cross Regional Director of Service to the Armed Forces and International Services. “Our military partners alerted us to the uncertainty that military members face in the days ahead. Together, we’re encouraging communities to come together to support them and offer some peace of mind.”
The drive runs Oct. 27-Nov. 7. Donations can be dropped off at the the following locations:
Fort Sill: by appointment
Oklahoma City: Red Cross office, 701 N Lindsay Ave. Monday-Thursday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. or Friday 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Shawnee: Red Cross office, 700 E Independence St., by appointment
Stillwater: Red Cross office, 118 W Seventh Ave., by appointment
Tulsa: Red Cross office, 10151 E 11th St., Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
To arrange for a drop-off appointment, contact Bayles-Raleigh via email. Volunteers will sort and deliver donated items to partners for distribution.
