More than 182,000 units of blood are collected in Oregon and Washington each year. The new blood donation site in east Multnomah County will make it easier for people to donate. It's been a huge success and has been filling up with appointments.
The American Red Cross is experiencing a national blood shortage. Hurricane Idalia further strained the blood supply with blood drive cancellations. Red Cross stepped up with media coverage. Staff and volunteers also rolled up their sleeves to help.
