HAGÅTÑA, GUAM – April 16, 2026 – In response to Super Typhoon Sinlaku, the American Red Cross is standing in support of the people of the Marianas – Guam, Saipan, Tinian and Rota and everyone impacted by the storm. In close partnership with local and federal government officials and community organizations, the Red Cross is on the ground preparing supplies, mobilizing volunteers, and readying support relief efforts as the storm passed through the islands. As soon as conditions allow, Red Cross responders will be out in the affected areas across Guam, Saipan, Tinian and Rota to assess damage, and provide mass care services such as shelter, food, supplies, distribution of emergency supplies, and clean-up kits.
RED CROSS RESPONSE Local Red Cross Guam and CNMI volunteers together with over 100 trained Red Cross disaster workers from all over the U.S. have traveled as far as 7,000 miles to help people impacted by this massive storm. Red Cross remains in close contact with CNMI officials and is preparing to deploy resources to support sheltering and additional needs. More Red Cross Volunteers are standing ready to deploy to Guam and CNMI islands to provide humanitarian assistance wherever it is needed.
The American Red Cross has been involved in storm preparations for many days ahead of impact and is focused on providing humanitarian assistance whenever and wherever it’s needed across all our Mariana Islands. Guam Red Cross Executive Director Ken Quintanilla said “The resilience of the people of the Marianas continues to drive our recovery efforts. We have been here before, we are here now, and we will remain here well after the storm to support our islands in every possible way.”
FIND A SHELTER You can find open Red Cross shelters on redcross.org, the free Red Cross Emergency app or by calling 671-472-6217 (Guam) or 670-234-3459 (Saipan). You can also check with local officials and monitor local news for information on where to find emergency shelter. Red Cross volunteers are working with local and federal partners and community agencies to ensure people get the help they need.
If you are in need of shelter, we recommend you bring items such as prescription medications, extra clothing, pillows, blankets, hygiene supplies, other comfort items and important documents. Don’t forget to bring any special items for children, such as diapers, formula and toys, or for family members who have unique needs.
Red Cross shelters are open to everyone in need and all disaster assistance is free. We don’t require people to show any kind of identification to enter a shelter — just their name and where they were living before the disaster.
