Governor Proclaims Red Cross Month

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro issued a proclamation recognizing March as Red Cross Month to honor the compassion and dedication of people who serve Pennsylvania communities through the American Red Cross.

“Whether it's responding to disasters, providing vital blood supplies, delivering lifesaving training, or supporting our military families, the Red Cross is always ready to step in and help those in crisis,” Governor Shapiro said in the proclamation. “I commend the dedicated network of brave volunteers and compassionate donors who selflessly serve our communities in need. Through their tireless efforts, future generations will know a stronger and safer Pennsylvania, where everyone has access to the lifesaving services and programs necessary for their survival and well-being.”

During its annual Red Cross Month celebration, the Red Cross honors the people who deliver support when help can’t wait — including volunteers who comprise 90% of its national workforce, generous blood, platelet and financial donors, and other supporters who power its lifesaving mission.

STATE CAPITOL LIT RED The Pennsylvania Capitol Building in Harrisburg will be illuminated in red to honor Red Cross Month from Monday, March 24, 2025 at 7:20 p.m. to Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at 7 a.m.

MARCH 26 IS GIVING DAY Visit redcross.org to make a financial donation, schedule time to give blood, volunteer or take a class. Financial gifts made on March 26 will be part of the annual Red Cross Giving Day to help people affected by disasters big and small across the country
