Every day, people are out there doing incredible things, saving lives.
Do you know someone who has performed an extraordinary act of courage to save someone's life? Or maybe you know someone who commits countless hours to a special cause?
The Red Cross wants to help you honor and celebrate these individuals at its Rhode Island Heroes Luncheon, Friday, June 2, 2017, at the Crowne Plaza Warwick. Each year, the Red Cross in Rhode Island accepts nominations from the public for recognition of people who go above and beyond in service to others, exemplifying the spirit of the Red Cross mission. These heroes are honored in recognition of their good works.
The Red Cross touches lives in our state every day through programs and services such as Disaster Relief; Service to the Armed Forces; and Preparedness and Health & Safety Training. As an organization committed to helping people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies in our communities, the Red Cross is honored to salute individuals who make a difference.
Nominate your Community Hero for deeds that occurred in the last 15 months. Nominations must be received by February 28, 2017 to be considered for this year’s event. The nominee must live or work in, or the event must have occurred in, Rhode Island. Nominations may be made for both living and posthumous Heroes. Details about the Heroes Celebration and an online nomination form are available at the Red Cross website, http://www.redcross.org/news/event/local/rhode-island/Rhode-Island-Heroes.
“Every day, people are out there doing incredible things, saving lives,” said Mario Bruno, CEO, American Red Cross Connecticut and Rhode Island Region. “We see this through the dedication of our Red Cross volunteers involved with helping disaster victims or people who risk their lives for others and with people who learn through our health and safety training how to save lives. Many of these people are unsung heroes. Rhode Island Heroes gives us an opportunity to honor our neighbors who do extraordinary things every day.”
Nominees from across the state are welcome. For more information about the Red Cross Rhode Island Heroes Celebration and sponsorship opportunities, contact Libby Richardson at (860) 678-4310 or libby.richardson@redcross.org.
