Sport Utility Vehicle Generously Donated by National Grid
National Grid is partnering with the American Red Cross to provide a disaster response vehicle to be used in Rhode Island to deliver the Red Cross mission.
A ribbon cutting ceremony for the new vehicle was held earlier this month at National Grid’s North Kingstown facility to welcome the new SUV into the Red Cross fleet of disaster response vehicles.
“We are grateful to National Grid for their generous donation to the Red Cross,” said Susan Roberts, Executive Director, Rhode Island Red Cross. “This new vehicle allows the Red Cross to be where we are needed, when we are needed.”
The new Chevy Traverse AWD is vital in supporting service delivery and the generous donation from National Grid will enable the Red Cross to continually assist those in Rhode Island
The new vehicle will be used for disaster action team operations, including responding to home fires, preparedness activities including the Red Cross Home Fire Campaign and Pillowcase Project, disaster operations including large scale disaster response functions, volunteer recruitment and support activities, and general territory management and administrative support activities.
“Our community partnerships mean everything to us at National Grid,” said Bill Flaherty, director of Community and Customer Relations at National Grid. “The Red Cross does crucially important work for our communities and we are happy to support their first responder efforts with this vehicle.”
National Grid supports Red Cross programs and disaster relief efforts across it’s US footprint.
